Salsa Marin's founder, Mark Ellis, was inspired to dance from the day he was born. As a native Latin dancer, he was part of the salsa scene from its inception. As a Nicaraguan, music and dance is a way life. Life is enjoyed through music and movement. As one of the early adopters, his method of salsa is designed to be more than just steps, and allows for the unique expression of oneself with the music. Mark has a unique blend of Cuban and ballroom style salsa, learned from great teachers like Jimmy Rumba, Jose Maldonado (PasoFino) and the great Ruben Gonzalez.
Salsa Marin teaches how to dance to music, making the music move you and ultimately becoming one with the music. Its goal is to have students know the steps, but not become step dancers; to know the music and feel it like their heartbeat... And dance in "oneness" with the music.
